NSC Agility team

The NSC is very excited that a team of Minature Schnauzers is now active on the 'agility circuit' -

NSC Just In Time

This is the name of the newly formed NSC small agility team and our aim this year is to enter the team into KC Crufts Team qualifiers.  The qualifiers are held under KC rules at various agility shows around the country.

Each team consists of 4 handlers and 4 dogs (plus 2 reserves) from the same height category.  The height limit for dogs is -

  • Small – dogs measuring 35cm (1ft 1.75ins) or under at the withers
  • Medium – dogs measuring  over 35cm (1ft 1.75ins) and measuring 43cm (1ft 5ins) or under at the withers
  • Large – dogs measuring over 43cm (1ft 5ins) at the withers.

To take part in KC registered agility shows your dog must be 18months old and has to be officially measured which can be done from the age of 15 months.  New dogs and handlers start in grade 1 and can progress to grade 7.  Handler and dog have to run a course, consisting of jumps and contact equipment in a numbered sequence.  The aim is to complete the course in the right order trying not to incur faults and in the course time that the judge has set.  The dogs enjoy it and so do the handlers.

Information for show schedules, agility training, agility rules and where to get your dog measured can be found on the following websites, The Kennel ClubAgility EyeAgility Net and Agility Addicts Forum.
